Sponsored by the Philadelphia Jazz Legacy Project and the 10th in an online series focusing on the many aspects of jazz in Philadelphia, past and present. This discussion explores the music and mentorship of the late drummer Jim Miller, who spent his life devoted to Philadelphia jazz. Miller started Philly's first jazz label, Dreambox Media, in 1986 , sheparding over 150 recordings of this region's most important artists. Drummer Erik Marley, a student of Miller's when he taught at Rowan University, has recorded Jim Miller's original compositions at Mageworks Productions. On hand will be saxophonist Greg Grispart and Jay Mage, who recorded and videotaped Marley's project. There will be lots of video clips and photos of the sessions....
