Jimmy Bruno is one of the most critically acclaimed jazz guitarist performing today, Jimmy Bruno came to prominence as a jazz musician in the 1990’s, after a successful twenty-year career as a sought-after commercial guitarist and session musician. A Philadelphia native, he was born into a family that was involved in the music business. His father played guitar on the 1959 hit, “Guitar Boogie Shuffle,” and his mother was a gifted singer. After much practice and study growing up, including a number of years of study with bassist Al Stauffer, in 1973, he hit the road the youngest member of drummer Buddy Rich’s band, and went on to back just about every big name in the business, from Frank Sinatra to Lena Horne. But his first love was always jazz, and by the time he was in his mid-thirties he was ready to come out of the background and into the spotlight. He returned home, landed a record deal with Concord Jazz records, recorded over 13 acclaimed CDs. In May of 2007, he opened the Jimmy Bruno Guitar Institute, available in 32 countries around the world via internet. JBGI deservedly has hundreds of students....
