Led by the dynamic guitarist/vocalist Barry Wahrhaftig, The Hot Club of Philadelphia returns to the College of Physicians/Mutter Museum for a Halloween Jazz Manouche Soiree. Expect acoustic guitar and violin virtuosity, and a taste of romance straight out of the Paris musical demi monde of the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
Appearing with The Hot Club is vocalist Phyllis Chapell. Often featured with the band for over a decade, Chapell brings a uniquely global perspective, singing in 13 languages, as well as American folk, jazz, and popular music. A gifted guitarist and writer, she has also created a repertoire of award-winning original songs, and released 8 albums. Phyllis Chapell has performed in concert as a solo artist and with her ensemble, Phyllis Chapell & SIORA, in the U.S., Latin America, Brazil, and Europe. She was named one of the top 521 jazz vocalists of all time by Scott Yanow in his book, "The Jazz Singers: The Ultimate Guide" published by Hal Leonard....
