“A singer with a strong and luscious tone and an amiably regal presence on stage,” (New York Times) Alicia Olatuja has astounded audiences with her exquisite vocals and artistic versatility. She burst into the national spotlight after performing at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration, and has since been praised by jazz diva Dianne Reeves as one of the finest young singers on the scene today. Blending her classical training with jazz, gospel and soul, Olatuja makes her Philadelphia debut performing music from her latest album, a celebration of women composers.
Rhythm Abstraction: Azure is the first volume of new compositions created as a follow up to 2018’s
release Rhythm Kaleidoscope. As with that release, Brock Avery improvised drum and percussion
solos. Frank Macchia then composed music for woodwinds and orchestra to Brock’s creations. Azure
is the first of three extended play albums of 6-7 compositions which will be released starting in
January and followed up in April and July. In Azure we have a created a group of pieces that continue
