Jazz at the Woodmere Tributes Women Composers!

The Red Rose Jazz Combo includes vocalist Jean Lenke, pianist Suzzette Ortiz, bassist Ana González, percussionist Karen Smith, and saxophonist Lynn Riley. This all women's combo will pay tribute to the life and work of artist Violet Oakley & the many creative women who tell stories & change hearts through art, music & song! The songs presented, composed all or in part by women, will including original compositions by Suzzette Ortiz & Lynn Riley.
Note: The group takes its name in honor of Violet Oakley and her Red Rose Girls artists collective - Elizabeth Shippen Green, Jessie Wilcox Smith, and Henrietta Cozens - who lived and worked together in Chestnut Hill for eight years becoming very successful financially and captivating society with their unconventional turn of the century lifestyle.
