Norwegian pianist Christian Wallumrød has worked with Arve Henriksen and Ingebrigt Haker Flaten. His trio’s debut album, No Birch, was released in 1998 by ECM. He is a member of Dans les Arbres, with Ingar Zach, Ivar Grydeland, and Xavier Charles, and he leads the Christian Wallumrød Ensemble. The latter has released four albums on ECM, the most recent being 2011’s Fabula Suite Lugano. About the album, the Irish Times writes that it “reflects [Wallumrød’s] contacts with contemporary classical, baroque, Norwegian folk and church music. It’s exquisitely performed; the permutating blend of trumpet-violin/Hardanger fiddle/viola-cello-baroque harp and piano or harmonium, with rhythm, is uniquely beautiful.”
