About
Classically trained string instrumentalists, Wil Baptiste (Viola) and Kev Marcus (Violin), return after a widely successful engagement at the Merriam last October. With influences from Shostakovitch and Bach to Nas and Jay-Z, Black Violin breaks all the rules, fusing classical with modern hip-hop, rock, R&B and Bluegrass music. Their collaboration and dynamic performance style has earned them support spots on tours for Wu-Tang Clan, Aerosmith, and Kanye West, among others.
The band uses their unique blend of classical and hip-hop music to overcome stereotypes while encouraging people all ages, races, and economic backgrounds to join together and break down cultural barriers.
